 Faye Alpha Bautista of Dupax Del Sur Nueva Vizcaya had put up Trevens Food House & Lechonan which caters to delicious recipes such as sizzling sisig, fried chicken, Lechon, Silog, rice toppings, pasta, burger sandwiches, juice & fries. they also cook fried chicken, lechon, pancit, among others.



Bautista had worked before in Dubai for several years, and after some time she comes home for good because she is pregnant at that time, so she prefers to go home and start a business in barangay Dopaj Dupax Del Sur Nueva Vizcaya for the first time but due to road widening, she moved near the public market.





Bautista was motivated to enter into business to support his family and for the future of her daughter. As small-business owners like Bautista try to survive the pandemic.






Bautista wants to thank her partner Chris Wensel Bonagan for his support in this endeavor.

Frelyn Onion Buying Station -Bone South Aritao Nueva Vizcaya

 



There are two types of onion grown in the Philippines; the yellow and the red onion[red pinoy]. The yellow varieties are grown for the traditional market, The red varieties, on the other hand, are produced because of their long storage life.



Frelyn Montemayor Victorio of Bone South  Aritao Nueva Vizcaya had established Frelyn  Onion Buying Station which engages in buying onions here in the province of Nueva Vizcaya.



She was motivated to have a business because she is the breadwinner of the family and she wants her family to uplift their living condition. She began with a meager amount of 500,000 pesos to start to buy onions from farmers who planted onions.



Frelyn started this kind of business 8 years ago, with her hard work and perseverance she was able to buy a truck forwarder to transport onions to a wholesaler in Valenzuela Metro Manila.



Now she is also helping the community by helping at least 50 helpers to have work during this season of onion harvest and providing them with free meals every day.

Joner Sapigao and Marlon Floresca Onion Buying Station-Aritao Nueva Vizcaya

 



Onions were historically used as a preventative medicine during epidemics of cholera and the plague. They were apparently eaten by Roman emperor Nero as a cure for colds during 68 AD., and its reputation has made onions a popular component in the diets of many countries such as the Philippines.



February to March is a very important month for the farmers here in Bambang and Aritao Nueva Vizcaya because it’s harvest time. The variety of onions that they plant here in Nueva Vizcaya is called the Red Pinoy.



Joner Sapigao and Marlon Floresca of Aritao Nueva Vizcaya had put up an onion buying station that engages in buying onion. During the peak season, they can harvest more than 6,000 bags(buriki) of onion. The Red Pinoy onion variety went beyond the expected quality output“, said Sapigao in an interview with CV Northern  Star staff.

The cleaning of onions needs several helpers to finish at an early time, then they will load to an elf cargo truck for transport in Malabon Metro Manila where the wholesaler of onion is located.

Sapigao and Floresca wish that this dreaded covid- 19  will stop, so they can deliver their products unhampered.

Buctayon woodcraft-Rosario Diadi Nueva Vizcaya

 



Walter and Admatu Buctayon of Rosario Diadi Nueva Vizcaya had established Buctayon woodcraft which engages in quality and durable products such as dining set, sala set coffee set, divider, among others.


Buctayon was motivated to start a business like this because it was his father's business in Banaue, Ifugao, so he wants to continue his passion as a woodcraft maker to generate an income for the family and for the future of his children.

During the early stage of their business, they are struggling because their capital is only 30,000 pesos for equipment and wood to use in furniture making.



Before the start of the pandemic, they can go to fiesta such as the Ammungan 2018 to exhibit their products and it’s very salable during that events. Now buyers can see and buy this quality furniture made by Buctayon Woodcraft.

Walter and Admatu were blessed with four children, the eldest is a graduate of Forestry and the three kids are still enrolled through online learning.

A True Public Servant

 



Once upon a time in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, Jose T. Castillo (deceased) had topnotch the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy during his time and the first who built and established the Rural Bank of Bagabag which engage in savings, loan, among others.

Jose Castillo had run as mayor of Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya and luckily he won and become the mayor for more than 20 years. He spearheads various projects such as farm-to-market road, in 2008 Castillo built the School Saranay Lantap Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya. When he passed away his son Victor Castillo has replaced his father and become the president of Rural Bank of Bagabag in 1966.

Victor Castillo had studied at a prestigious school at Ateneo de Manila University and took Banking and Finance leading to a four-year course .and eventually transferred to Univesity of the East to be her girlfriend Former Vice-mayor Lita Castillo[deceased], and soon became his wife. Victor Castillo was elected as mayor of Bagabag Nueva Vizcaya for more than 9 years and serves the people of Bagabag with integrity and honor. He accomplishes various projects such as farm-to-market roads, canal lining, and others.

Castillo has garnered notable awards; Outstanding Peace & Order Council in the entire Philippines, Outstanding PNP & BFP given in Malacanang Manila, Outstanding Department of Agriculture given in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya, and Outstanding Municipal of the Year awardee for 5 consecutive years from 1996 to 2000.

Under his administration former mayor,  Victor Castillo and his council send sends thousands of poor and talented students who are eager to study but don't have enough funds to support them, providing free school uniforms and encourage them to go to school.

FCB Baquiran Palay & Corn Buying Station-San Luis Solano Nueva Vizcaya

 







Our economy went down because of the pandemic crisis, several businesses had temporarily closed because they can’t afford to pay their rent due to the impact of Covid-19. Frederick Baquiran and his family think of a business which is palay & corn buying. They renovated in front of their house to make a warehouse to start buying.



Frederick Baquiran of San Luis Solano Nueva Vizcaya had established FCB Baquiran Palay & Corn Buying Station which engages in buying palay and corn. He was encouraged to start this kind of business because his father Freddie Baquiran who has a connection to various rice mills and palay baying stations, because of his talent for making electrical panel boards for the use of rice mill tuners.



Freddie Baquiran had worked before as an accountant at Reta Drug-one of the biggest pharmaceutical in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya and he was also work in Pagudpod Quezon as a  senior high teacher.



His parents Freddie and Claring Baquiran were blessed with six children: Frederick-businessman, Maricar-teacher at Aldersgate in Solano Nueva Vizcaya, Fredaclaire-accountant, Mark Zedrick- first-year college, Francis-Marine Engineer, and Freddie Jr- grade 11at saint Louis Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
